The Faculty of Arts provides IT Support to the Criminology Department. Please contact ArtsIT on the web, or telephone them on extension 40099, if you have problems with your computer. Remember that all computers require a degree of maintenance and that prevention is better than cure! If you are not certain that your computer has the latest updates and patches, please consult ArtsIT.

Policies and information for users

Dial in internet access

Staff and postgraduate students are entitled to free dialin internet access from home (subject to the University's conditions of use). Postgraduate criminology students are entitled to 10 hours per month, or 15 hours for tutors. Setup instructions are available from the Information Services (formerly Information Division). Applications for access must be authorised by the Departmental Manager.

Crimnet mailing list

CrimNet is an electronic criminal justice information network. It aims to fulfil the need for a means of regular and instant communication between criminal justice professionals, practitioners, academics and students in Australia and overseas - information is regularly delivered via email to your inbox. Accounts Registration System - accounts.unimelb.edu.au
Activate University email accounts; check account details, change passwords. This includes password changes for dial-in accounts. Staff need the last 4 digits of their salary bank account. Students need the library barcode from their student ID card.

Information Services

Information Services includes libraries, computing and communication facilities and a range of information and education services, systems and technologies to support the University's teaching, learning, research, service and administration.

Learning Management System (LMS or Blackboard) - www.lms.unimelb.edu.au
The LMS will replace Webraft by the end of 2007. It advances the functionality of Webraft, but essentially works in the same way to provide online resources for teaching. Users need to activate their university email account to access the system.

Student Information System (SIS) - https://sis.unimelb.edu.au/
The Student Information System allows students to access information specifically tailored for them including Alloc8, course planning, enrolment, timetables, booklists and results.

Student IT manages general access computer facilities located in building 161 on Monash Road on the Parkville Campus. These facilities are available to all currently enrolled University of Melbourne students.

Themis - http://www.themis.unimelb.edu.au/
The University of Melbourne’s enterprise-wide integrated administrative system. It was commenced as the result of a review of all the university’s administrative information technology systems, the Themis goal is to have integrated administrative applications of Finance, Human Resources, Research and Student Services.

WebRAFT - webraft.its.unimelb.edu.au
System for publishing staff and student teaching materials online securely (users must supply email username and password to access protected materials). This system is being supersceded by the LMS.
