Criminology IT Induction

New computer users at the University of Melbourne must set up an account for email, which is also used as a login for Windows computers. New users do this over the web.

Getting started

For verification purposes, staff will need to have:

  • the last four digits of the primary bank account into which their salary is deposited by the university;
  • their staff number.

Students will need to have:

  • their student card with library barcode;
  • their student number.

Both staff and students will then need to visit the accounts set-up page at: http://accounts.unimelb.edu.au/ and follow the prompts to create a central email account.

Please speak to the Criminology General Office for guidance with the appropriate forms that must be completed once you have your account set up. The following processes should then be addressed:

  • Completion of the Declaration for the Use of Computing Facilities (compulsory);
  • Completion of other IT forms (eg, Dial-in Access, Equipment off campus) (as required);
  • Advise about IT Support contact details;
  • Forwarding of University email account to an external account (if required);
  • Subcription to the Department's Mailing lists;
  • Provision with a folder on the Department's network fileserver to store your files;
  • Information about web-based IT resources for staff and students;
  •  Any other IT issues related to your new appointment
