Athena Politis is a registered Provisional Psychologist with the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria. She is currently studying Masters in Counselling Psychology at Swinburne University. Following completion of her Honours year in Psychology at the University of Melbourne in 2004 she was employed as a Community Corrections Officer by Corrections Victoria and a Research Assistant at The Cancer Council Victoria. She has over two years experience as a crisis telephone counsellor with Lifeline and has also been trained in counselling at The Cairnmillar Institute, Camberwell.
Athena has been in the role of Researcher for the “Procedural Justice for Victims of Crime” project in Criminology, University of Melbourne since May 2006. In 2007 she contributed to a paper that was presented at the Witness Assistance Conference in Darwin and she ran a seminar about victims of crime and procedural justice at The University of Melbourne where she presented the progress of the project and its innovative computer interview method.
